Half The Sky docu wins awards

The ‘Half The Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide’ documentary was one of the winners at the Realscreen Awards last night, picking up four prizes. Read more about the awards here.

“(…) Half the Sky, meanwhile, picked up the 2013 Award of Excellence in the Non-Fiction category, along with the award for Best Non-Fiction: Social/Current Affairs. The transmedia project, which was produced by Show of Force and Fugitive Films in association with ITVS and Artemis Media Ventures, also took prizes in the Best Music and Best Casting/Talent/Subjects categories.”

Web Therapy screencaps

Meg is one of the guest stars on Lisa Kudrow’s series ‘Web Therapy’ this season. She is featured in three webisodes, ‘The Archivist’, ‘You know how I love puzzles’ and ‘Extreme Makeover: Hoarder edition’. Showtime will air the three webispodes as one tv episode later in July. Added several screencaps to the gallery.

In other news, actress Jean Stapleton has passed away at the age of 90 on Friday. She is of course most famous for her role of ‘Edith’ in the tv show ‘All In The Family’, but also played the role of the lovely ‘Birdie’ in ‘You’ve Got Mail’.

Web Therapy update

The official Facebook page for the Lisa Kudrow series announced the new webisodes will air on Hulu starting Monday May 27th! Sadly, you can only view it on that website when you’re in the US. Good news is there are ways around that now. Hopefully we’ll have screencaps next week for you. The episodes will also be shown on the Showtime TV channel starting late July. Here’s the info from the Web Therapy FB page:

‘Web Therapy’ guest role update

Entertainment Weekly’s ‘Inside TV’ page has some updates on the third season of Lisa Kudrow’s ‘Web Therapy’, airing this summer on Showtime. Meg has a guest role in one of the episodes of her friend’s series. Meg and Lisa both starred in the movie ‘Hanging Up’ (2000) and Meg and Victor Gerber – who also seems to be in the same episode – were both in Sleepless in Seattle!

“(…) Believe the Skype: Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy will return to Showtime for a third season on July 22 at 11 p.m. In the 10 new episodes of the improvised comedy — which stars the former Friends actress as a self-consumed therapist who counsels patients via very brief video chats — Kudrow’s Fiona Wallice deals with the aftermath of husband Kip (Victor Garber) running off with his male campaign manager (Michael McDonald), and is investigated for campaign finance misconduct.

(…) Season 3 also contains a healthy dose of famous guest stars. EW has learned that Steve Carell plays a romantic interest for Fiona who turns out be a quasi-religious cult leader, Billy Crystal pops up as the publicist of the book that she co-wrote with her mother, Chelsea Handler appears as Fiona’s ex-husband who, yes, is now a woman after gender reassignment therapy, Megan Mullally is the composer/lyricist of the planned Broadway musical, Sara Gilbert swings by as a distraught marketing specialist, and Project Runway judge/fashion editor Nina Garcia plays herself giving Fiona a makeover. As for previously announced guests, Meg Ryan assumes the role of a hoarder who has an unhealthy obsession with Kip, Jesse Tyler Ferguson pops up as a paranoid lottery winner, and Matt LeBlanc plays an online gambling addict.(…)”

Half The Sky documentary gets TV award

The Half The Sky documentary that was show on PBS last year, featuring Meg as one of the co-presenters together with several other actresses, has been chosen as one of the honorees for the Sixth Annual Television Academy Honors.

“The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences today announced the honorees for the Sixth Annual Television Academy Honors. Celebrating “Television With A Conscience,” this year’s honorees are A Smile as Big as The Moon, D.L. Hughley: The Endangered List, Half The Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity For Women Worldwide, Hunger Hits Home, The Newsroom, Nick News with Linda Ellerbee, One Nation Under Dog: Stories of Fear, Loss & Betrayal and Parenthood. The Awards, honoring television programs that aired January 1 – December 31, 2012, will be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel on May 9th and hosted by Emmy® Award-winning actress Dana Delany.(…)

‘Web Therapy’ guest role

Wasn’t able to update the website this past week, so sorry!. So first: a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Meg Ryan, who turned 51 years old on Monday November 19th!! We hope she had a lovely day with her family & friends!

The Hollywood Reporter reported on Friday that Meg will be one of the famous guest stars on Lisa Kudrow’s series ‘Web Therapy’, to be aired in 2013. The show just got picked up for a third season on US tv network Showtime. Meg and Lisa were co-stars in ‘Hanging Up’(2000).

“Starring Lisa Kudrow, Web Therapy will feature guest stars Matt LeBlanc, Meg Ryan and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. Ten half-hour episodes to premiere next year.

“We’re shooting webisodes right now, and it’s just so much fun to do,” said Kudrow. “These actors we get to play with are so inventive and nimble and funny. We’re beyond thrilled to get a third season on Showtime because it’s such a good fit.”

Web Therapy centers on a delusional and narcissistic online therapist Fiona Wallice, who treats patients in three-minute sessions.(…)”
