‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off

Apr 24 • by admin • Comments Offgeneral, television

Several serious entertainment sites are reporting Meg will lend her voice to one of the main characters in the upcoming ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off! Funny how her characters name is Sally! Article below is from the Entertainment Weekly website.

The mother has a voice: Meg Ryan has been cast as the narrator for CBS’ How I Met Your Mother spin-off.

The actress has landed the unseen vocal role in the How I Met Your Dad pilot, which is considered an obvious front-runner for a series order for CBS’ schedule next season. She’ll supply the voice of “future Sally” (played during the series in flashback by Greta Gerwig), the same way Bob Saget supplied the voice for future Ted in HIMYM. Like Saget, her character will never be seen.

Ryan is one of the original modern-day rom-com movie stars, having launched her carrier in 1989 with the hit When Harry Met Sally. She’s since appeared in Sleepless in Seattle, In the Cut, and had a recurring role on Showtime’s Web Therapy. How I Met Your Dad is her first major prime-time TV series regular role. CBS and studio 20th Century Fox TV had no comment. SOURCE

Developing a TV comedy for NBC

Oct 13 • by admin • 1 Comment »general, television

This looks interesting. Meg is working on a tv comedy show for NBC. If greenlit, it would probably air in fall 2014. Variety has the following report on it’s website:

“Meg Ryan will exec produce and star in a new halfhour, single-cam comedy from Universal TV that is in development at NBC. Ryan would play a sunny, non-confrontational single mom (with teenage kids, an almost-ex-husband and a meddlesome mother-in-law) who returns to her New York publishing house where she was once a brilliant editor to find that she now works for Brenda, a neurotic 30-year-old who was once her former intern. Trying to keep everyone happy, Ryan’s character ends up overcomplicating every situation.

Marc Lawrence, who will script, and Jane Berliner (Ryan’s manager) will also exec produce. Lawrence (“Miss Congeniality”) began his career on NBC comedy “Family Ties.” Ryan becomes the latest in an increasingly long line of film stars segueing into television. Most recently, Halle Berry committed to CBS drama series “Extant” and signed a two-year, first look production deal with CBS Television Studios.(…)”

Meg is one of the guest stars on Lisa Kudrow’s series ‘Web Therapy’ this season. She is featured in three webisodes, ‘The Archivist’, ‘You know how I love puzzles’ and ‘Extreme Makeover: Hoarder edition’. Showtime will air the three webispodes as one tv episode later in July. Added several screencaps to the gallery.

In other news, actress Jean Stapleton has passed away at the age of 90 on Friday. She is of course most famous for her role of ‘Edith’ in the tv show ‘All In The Family’, but also played the role of the lovely ‘Birdie’ in ‘You’ve Got Mail’.

Here’s the info from the Web Therapy FB page:

‘Web Therapy’ guest role update

Mar 26 • by admin • Comments Offtelevision, web therapy

Entertainment Weekly’s ‘Inside TV’ page has some updates on the third season of Lisa Kudrow’s ‘Web Therapy’, airing this summer on Showtime. Meg has a guest role in one of the episodes of her friend’s series. Meg and Lisa both starred in the movie ‘Hanging Up’ (2000) and Meg and Victor Gerber – who also seems to be in the same episode – were both in Sleepless in Seattle!

“(…) Believe the Skype: Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy will return to Showtime for a third season on July 22 at 11 p.m. In the 10 new episodes of the improvised comedy — which stars the former Friends actress as a self-consumed therapist who counsels patients via very brief video chats — Kudrow’s Fiona Wallice deals with the aftermath of husband Kip (Victor Garber) running off with his male campaign manager (Michael McDonald), and is investigated for campaign finance misconduct.

(…) Season 3 also contains a healthy dose of famous guest stars. EW has learned that Steve Carell plays a romantic interest for Fiona who turns out be a quasi-religious cult leader, Billy Crystal pops up as the publicist of the book that she co-wrote with her mother, Chelsea Handler appears as Fiona’s ex-husband who, yes, is now a woman after gender reassignment therapy, Megan Mullally is the composer/lyricist of the planned Broadway musical, Sara Gilbert swings by as a distraught marketing specialist, and Project Runway judge/fashion editor Nina Garcia plays herself giving Fiona a makeover. As for previously announced guests, Meg Ryan assumes the role of a hoarder who has an unhealthy obsession with Kip, Jesse Tyler Ferguson pops up as a paranoid lottery winner, and Matt LeBlanc plays an online gambling addict.(…)”
