People Magazine: #FAIL

Aug 28 • by admin • Comments Offgossip, magazines

Sorry for this next rant. Just ignore if you’re not interested, I’ll probably regret it tomorrow. First up: TY, Simone, for sending me this article! There used to be a time when People Magazine reigned supreme amongst the entertainment and gossip magazines. That was a long time ago and the magazine has been on the fast-track downhill for the past years, but did they really have to prove that again?LOL!

On the cover the magazine ‘promises’ to take us ‘inside Meg Ryan’s split’, but in the short article inside they have absolutely zero info to back that claim up. All they have is a few general quotes from two ill-informed self-proclaimed ‘Indiana sources’ (duh, surprise…not!), who obviously know next to nothing about Meg Ryan and never met her. In short: don’t waste your time and/or money on it.

My ‘favorite’ part is the opening paragraph of the article though: “Meg Ryan has always kept a low profile on the tiny island of Chappaquiddick where she spends her summers. But this year she was even less on the scene there and in neighbouring Martha’s Vinyeard, skipping her regular coffee run (…) and bypassing (…) an eatery she has frequented in years past with her daughter Daisy. Stopping by MorningGloryFarm on her bicycle on Aug 24, she stuck to her polite-but-dont-ask-me-for-a-selfie mode. Says clerk Mira Vasiljevic: “she was very nice and seemed happy.”

Yeah, gee, People Magazine, ya think perhaps the reason for Meg Ryan being ‘invisible’ on the scene there this summer is because she has not spent a single day there for the past 3 months(!!), untill this past Weekend, since she was busy prepping and directing a movie until this past Friday?!

Of course, the magazine also completely lacks other ‘little’ facts, like oh say, the split already happened several months ago, this not exactly being the first time she ended it, her buying an apartment in Soho last year. Never trust gossip magazines, they are always the last to know. Rant over. The End.

Meg Ryan’s new Soho apartment!

Aug 27 • by admin • Comments Offgeneral, meg ryan

Meg Ryan bought a large apartment in the Soho neighbourhood of NYC back in 2013. She bought the apartment from fellow-actor and friend Hank Azaria for 8 million dollars already over a year ago. Hank and Meg both did the voicework for the animated movie Anastasia back in 1997.

The Soho apartment is located on Mercer Street, in a six-story building that was constructed in 1884 as a store and loft building, replacing what was once the largest and most luxurious hotel in the world, the St. Nicholas Hotel. Meg’s new home is on the fifth floor, has roughly 4,100 sq.ft of space, 12 feet high ceilings througout and large windows at the front and back.

Elle Decor Magazine had an article on the apartment a few years ago, when Hank Azaria still owned it. You can see the article [HERE] at their website. It probably looks very different these days though. Meg is known for completely remodeling, renovating and redecorating her homes after she buys them. See her gorgeous former Bel-Air mansion [HERE], which she sold for over 11 million dollars in 2012, and her current vacation home on Martha’s Vineyard [HERE], which she bought back in 2006 for roughly 6 million dollars.

Updated: Tom Hanks in Richmond to film scenes for ‘Ithaca’

Aug 20 • by admin • Comments OffIthaca, movies, tom hanks

Yay! Tom Hanks has been in Richmond Va. for the past couple of days to film some scenes for Meg’s movie Ithaca. Word is Tom will make an appearace as the late husband of Meg’s character. Can’t wait to see if they have a scene together or if it is just him! Filming is taking place during the day and evening at the historic Tree Hill Farm outside of Richmond. Read more about it [here] at the CBS6 website and check our previous posts for more photos and video!

*updated 08-21* Looks like today and tomorrow will be the last days of filming ‘Ithaca’, moving the production back to Petersburg Va, and then it’s a wrap!

ETA: if you love Tom Hanks – and really, who doesn’t?! – be sure to download his free typewriter app for your iPad, the Hanx Writer!

PS, no this site will not be reporting on the latest from US gossip magazine Closer Weekly etc.,as it is not a reputable source and the article contains many mistake and fake sources. As mentioned last week, Meg Ryan ended it already in June and this wasn’t about ‘privacy’. Meg is a more private person than talkative Mellencamp is anyway.

Filming near Richmond has started

A story from CBS6 about filming of Ithaca now taking place in the Richmond area, after filming wrapped up in Petersburg earlier this week.

*updated* ‘Ithaca’ features familiar places in Petersburg

Below are the first few paragraphs from an article in the Progres-Index about the ‘Ithaca’ production in Petersburg Va. Click on [this link] to read the entire article! update Click here for a link to one more picture from the article.

Meg – who supposedly ended her relationship with John Mellencamp in June – was joined by her son Jack for a few days last week, to film some of his scenes for the movie! Jack will soon also be seen as a ’70s record producer in the pilot of Martin Scorsese’s ‘Rock ‘N Roll’ pilot, which was recently filmed in NYC and is being produced by Mick Jagger. And this weekend Meg was spotted out and about in Richmond with daughter Daisy.

Looks like filming in Petersburg wrapped yesterday evening and the crew and production will now move to a location outside Richmond, to film scenes in a house that will features as the Macauley home.

The producers of Meg Ryan’s “Ithaca” have transformed parts of Petersburg into a small World War II-era town through the use of storefront facades, a makeshift grocery store and a fleet of cars from antique collectors.

A short drive through the city reveals familiar historic locations that will be put on display to the nation on screen.

Tom Trigo, locations manager, and Stephanie Carroll, production designer, have the creative eyes that scoped out Petersburg as the place to film an adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Saroyan’s “The Human Comedy.”

Most of the film is being shot in Petersburg, with some scenes shot at the former Robert Fulton School in the Fulton Hill area of Richmond and at a farm surrounding the city.

As Carroll and Trigo drove through Petersburg in search of locations, Sycamore and Tabb streets downtown provided several blocks of buildings correct to the period or older.

Trigo said that part of the city’s appeal was that not a lot of cosmetic changes had to be made to adapt Petersburg to writer Erik Jendresen’s, or director Meg Ryan’s, visions.

“We always have to do certain basic cosmetic things but a lot of the store fronts and structures themselves are correct,” Trigo said. “We have so many locations all within the downtown area minutes apart.”

So, just what locations are being used in the historic city? (…) READ MORE HERE

Ithaca filming has started! (with pic) *updated*

Jul 24 • by admin • Comments Offcandids, Ithaca, sightings

Ithaca is now officially happening. Filming began Tuesday in Petersburg, Virginia. YAY! The shoot is expected to continue through August 26th. Below is an article and a picture from the Progress-Index website. Click on the picture or [HERE] to see an HQ sized version of it on their website! The picture shows Meg walking with the assistent director and one of the producers.

UPDATED 07/27 check our Twitter and our Facebook page for more pictures and sightings from the set!

Film crews have descended on downtown Petersburg for the making of “Ithaca,” bringing actress Meg Ryan with them. Filming began Tuesday for the 1940s period piece – Ryan’s directorial debut – and will continue into mid-August.

On Wednesday, the area between South Side Depot and the Peter Jones Trading Station hummed with activity. Brian Little, director of cultural affairs for the City of Petersburg, said other filming locations include Sycamore Street in Old Towne, as well as inside and outside of At The Globe, an antiques store, and Centre Hill Mansion.

Little said city residents could run into parking issues. Currently, parking is not allowed in the Farmers Market lot and there will be no parking Aug. 5-9 in areas surrounding Centre Hill Mansion.

Ryan had Petersburg in her sites for months as a potential filming location. The actress was spotted in the city as early as April scoping out locations for the project, and continues to be seen in the area. A June 20 announcement from Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s office confirmed that Petersburg had been chosen. Other projects filmed in the city in recent years include “Lincoln,” “Killing Lincoln,” Killing Kennedy” and “The Abolitionists.” “Ithaca” will also film in the Richmond area.

The movie, scheduled for a 2015 release, is based on the 1943 novel “The Human Comedy,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Saroyan. (…)

Producer and writer Erik Jendresen, who also worked on National Geographic’s “Killing Lincoln,” said Petersburg was the perfect place to bring “Ithaca” to life. “It was a no-brainer to come back to Virginia,” he said, “Petersburg is perfect; it has the quality of a town from days gone by.” SOURCE
